New Surry Theatre schedules auditions
New Surry Theatre & Performing Arts School has three auditions scheduled for early January. On Saturdays, January 6 and 13, at 10 a.m., director Shari John will hold auditions for a musical adaptation of The Wind in the Willows, to be produced in August with rehearsals during the several months leading up to performances. The beloved tale of the woodland friends and how they deal with the impetuous and self-important Mr. Toad has been set to a charming score by Douglas Post. Roles are available for all ages.
On Saturday, January 27, at 10 a.m., director Johannah Blackman will hold auditions for Calendar Girls, Tim Firth’s comedy based on the true story of 11 Women’s Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund. The large cast includes nine roles for women ages 20 and older and four roles for men ages 20 and older. Performances will be in late May and early June.
All auditions will be at the Blue Hill Town Hall Theater at 18 Union Street. For more information, visit newsurrytheatre.org.
