TOWN DESCRIPTION
Sedgwick is home both to the oldest town house in continuous use in Maine, where the annual town meeting is held to this day, and to what is arguably one of the most well-photographed views in the state. Caterpillar Hill affords a sweeping vista across blueberry barrens to Penobscot Bay and Camden in the west, south to Isle au Haut, and east to Jericho Bay.

Settled in 1763 and incorporated in 1789, Sedgwick became home to shipbuilding operations, a canning factory, a silver mine and even a bowling alley. Ice cut from Walker Pond made it to places as far away as India. The town is home to an old-fashioned clapboard mill and several children’s camps on Walker Pond.
