The Adelaide.
Peter and Beth Niehoff of Sand Dollar Sailing, LLC.
Lighthouse.

NORTH BROOKLIN—Sand Dollar Sailing is a private day charter and cruising school for families and friends who wish to experience Blue Hill Bay and the surrounding islands. Sand Dollar is owned and operated by Captain Peter and Beth Niehoff. Peter has a Coast Guard 100-ton master’s license and is a certified American Sailing Association instructor. Beth holds course certificates from the American Sailing Association and the Ocean Navigator School of Seamanship. It is our pleasure to offer these private charters aboard our fifty-two foot sailing yacht Adelaide. Adelaide is a classic “blue water” cutter that moves well in moderate breezes and has a gentle motion.

Sail Blue Hill Bay will enable visitors to our area, whether renting or taking advantage of one of the beautiful inns, to get out on the water. Our private charters are by reservation only. We offer two excursions, an afternoon sail, and a full day of exploration, which will include island stops and a leisurely lunch. Blue Hill Bay offers some of the most beautiful sailing and scenery in the world, so remember to bring your camera. In addition to our day charters we also offer a custom overnight trip.

Instruction: Sand Dollar sailing offers courses from beginning sailing to advanced cruising. Peter is one of the few American Sailing Association certified instructors in this area. Sand Dollar’s beginning sailing offers personal one-on-one instruction for children and adults structured to be fun and allowing the student to advance at their own pace. Our intermediate course offers four days and three nights of hands-on training and can culminate in a certification in bareboat chartering. The course targets sailors who wish to go beyond day sailing and obtain the skills for safe and fun cruising. The advanced course teaches skills in passage-making and will run for seven or more days with destinations along the East Coast and Canada. Both of these latter courses emphasize the need for partners to have the necessary skills and be able to work confidently together.

Your safety and comfort aboard Adelaide can be assured, as she has taken Peter and Beth along with their three children on over twenty-five thousand miles of live-aboard cruising. While home schooling, they sailed numerous trips along the East Coast and through the Bahamas. In addition they have cruised to Canada, Bermuda, Virgin Islands and to the lower Caribbean.

Peter and Beth look forward to sharing their stories, their love of sailing, and the beauty of Blue Hill Bay. Please visit their Web site at www.sanddollarsailingllc.com, or e-mail them for additional information at sanddollarsailing@hotmail.com. For reservations or to speak to them, call 207-266-1686.
